Aug 16 2018-Action Alert

8/16/2018

Take action to stop the pipeline before it starts!

We've launched an email and phone campaign toward the company that wants to build this pipeline, H4 Capital Partners, asking them to NOT build this destructive pipeline for private profit.

If you'd like to help, please send an email or make a phone call:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMAILING:

Send to:
info@lvipower.com AND info@delpipeco.com (this email might bounce back but send anyway)
(Please send them separately, not as one email with multiple addresses)

BCC: Info@noeasternshorepipeline.org

You can ALSO send a message through their website contact forms:
http://www.lvipower.com/contact-us.html
http://delpipeco.com/

Message to send or similar. This is our FIRST attempt to reach them, so please keep it cordial. We have a plan to increase communication efforts as needed depending on whether they respond or not:

     "To whom it may concern,
I am writing to express my concern about your plans for a 190 mile fracked gas pipeline, starting in Rising Sun, Maryland and ending in Accomack, Virginia. I care deeply about Maryland’s Eastern Shore and do not want to see it damaged by a fracked gas pipeline. The pipeline will cross rivers, marshland and farms, doing irreparable damage during construction, and will continually harm the eco-system once operational.
The risk of explosion from gas pipelines is very high. In the past few months alone, multiple pipelines and plants have exploded in Texas, Wisconsin and West Virginia. One of the explosions was on a pipeline less than 1 year old and has been found to be at risk at at least another 5 locations along it’s path.

The people of the Eastern Shore love their land and their way of life. A gas pipeline threatens both of those, for the benefit of those who will profit. But The Shore will pay the price.
Please meet with local stakeholders-small business owners, farmers, watermen, land owners, residents, hunters, conservationists, to discuss a clean/renewable option instead. According to one of your websites – LVIPower.com – you also build solar and wind solutions. The eastern shore would benefit from solar and wind, but suffer if this pipeline is built.
A contingent from No Eastern Shore Pipeline is waiting to hear from you to discuss options. Please reach out to them to set up a meeting (info@NoEasternShorePipeline.org).
               Sincerely,

                              {Your Name}”

If you get a reply, forward it to info@noeasternshorepipeline.org. Do not feel the need to engage with them any further.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CALLING:

Call Delmarva Pipeline Company at: 667-930-3196
Call LVI Power at: 410-989-1256

We expect both of these to go to VM. If so, leave the following message or similar (keep it short, we want to fill up their inbox with MULTIPLE messages, not just a few really long ones)

Script:

“Hello, my name is {YOUR FIRST NAME ONLY} and I am calling to express my concern about your plans to build a 190 mile fracked gas pipeline though Maryland’s Eastern Shore. This pipeline will cut through rivers, marshland and farms, and do permanent damage to the eco-system.
Gas pipelines are dangerous. In the past few months several have exploded leading to numerous deaths, many serious injuries, and millions of dollars in damages.

The people of Maryland’s Eastern Shore do not need or want this pipeline, however we are open to clean and renewable energy projects like solar or wind.

Please meet with a contingent of Eastern Shore stakeholders from No Eastern Shore Pipeline to discuss other options that won’t destroy what makes the Eastern Shore so special. They can be reached by emailing info@NoEasternShorePipeline.org. Thank you for your time.”

What to do if they answer:

  1. Pay attention when the answer, if they state their name write it down for us.
  2. Introduce yourself
    1. “Hi, my name is {Your name}”
  3. If they did not state their name ask it
    1. “May I ask who I’m speaking to?”
    2. Write it down
  4. Tell them why you are calling
    1. “I’m calling today because I’ve heard your company wants to build a 190 mile fracked gas pipeline through Maryland’s Eastern Shore”
  5. Tell them why you are against it:
    1. “I am against you building this pipeline because it will cause irreparable damage to the Eastern Shore ecosystem, all for the benefit of private corporations.”
  6. Tell them what you’d like them to do instead:
    1. “Instead of building this pipeline, please consider a green/renewable project if more energy production is necessary on the shore.”
  7. Ask them to meet with us:
    1. “There is a group of Eastern Shore stakeholders willing to meet with you to discuss options. They can be reached by emailing info@noeasternshorepipeline.org.”
  8. If they get rude, say thank you and hang up the phone. Do NOT argue with them.
  9. If they say anything other than “thank you for your call” write down what they say and email it to us at info@noeasternshorepipeline.org

That is all for now!! Thank you to everyone who takes a few minutes to take action against this pipeline!!
And if you haven't already done so, please sign our petition here.
